Environmental Awareness in Schools Through Experiential Learning (ESTELLA)

The Environmental Awareness in Schools Through Experiential Learning (ESTELLA) Erasmus+ project aimed to strengthen environmental education in secondary schools and support students in developing practical knowledge and skills related to sustainability. Aligned with the European Union’s environmental and climate objectives, the project introduced an innovative experiential learning approach to environmental education.
The project was implemented between 1 September 2022 and 31 August 2024 under French coordination within an international partnership. The consortium brought together organisations from France, Greece, Türkiye, Italy, and Hungary, including Trebag Ltd.
At the heart of the project was the application of experiential learning methodologies, enabling students to develop a deeper understanding of environmental issues through observation, hands-on activities, and real-life experiences within their own communities. As part of the project, teacher training materials, digital learning resources, and environmental learning scenarios were developed to support innovative classroom practice.
One of the project’s key achievements was the creation of a digital learning platform featuring 78 learning scenariosand numerous practical activities covering a wide range of environmental topics. During the pilot phase, 12 secondary schools and more than 400 students participated in testing the project’s educational resources. In the long term, the project contributes to strengthening environmental awareness, enhancing problem-solving skills, and fostering stronger cooperation between schools and their local communities.
