CarCraft - Minecraft Simulation Game for Car Mechanics
The Minecraft Simulation Game for Car Mechanics (CarCraft) Erasmus+ project aimed to support the renewal of vocational education and training (VET) through innovative digital solutions, particularly in the distance learning environment accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic. The project focused on developing a game-based learning tool that enables learners to acquire practical skills in a virtual environment.

The project was implemented between 1 June 2021 and 31 May 2023 under United Kingdom coordination within an international partnership. The consortium brought together organisations from Cyprus, the Netherlands, Greece, and Hungary, including Trebag Ltd., working jointly on the development of new methods for digital education.

At the heart of the project was a Minecraft-based simulation game designed specifically for learners in car mechanic training. Through the game, participants encounter challenges that model real professional situations: identifying faults, building engines, and applying different repair solutions. The development was supported by a comprehensive pedagogical methodology that structured both learning outcomes and competence development.

The project placed strong emphasis not only on learners’ practical skills but also on the development of teachers’ digital competences. The resulting tool helps increase learner motivation and enables practical training to be delivered effectively in an online environment. In the long term, the project supports the digitalisation of vocational education and the broader application of gamification in teaching and learning.
